Congressman Vince Fong (CA-20) issued a statement today marking the 24th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks. The attacks, which occurred in 2001, resulted in nearly 3,000 deaths and had a lasting impact on the nation.

“This Patriot Day marks 24 years since the tragic September 11th terror attacks that forever changed our nation,” said Congressman Vince Fong (CA-20). “Let us pause to remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost, and pay tribute to the first responders, service members, and everyday heroes who displayed extraordinary courage in the face of unimaginable distress. Their bravery reminds us of the strength and resilience of our American spirit. We will never forget, and we will continue to stand united in defense of freedom. God Bless America.”

Patriot Day is observed annually as a day of remembrance for those who died during the events of September 11, as well as to honor first responders and others who acted heroically.
