Rep. David Valadao, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing California’s 22nd district, has shared a series of statements on various topics via social media. These posts highlight his involvement in commemorative events and express his views on cultural recognition and immigration enforcement.
On June 7, 2025, Rep. Valadao stated, “This morning, I joined the American Sikh Caucus Committee to remember the tragedy of 1984. Leaders at every level of government have a responsibility to condemn transnational repression, and as co-chair of the American Sikh Congressional Caucus, I’m proud to help lead the charge.” This reflects his commitment to addressing issues related to international human rights abuses.
In a subsequent post on June 10, 2025, he celebrated cultural heritage by saying, “Happy Day of the Azores! Today, we recognize the unique culture and traditions of my family’s homeland—the islands of the Azores—and celebrate the region’s self-governance.” This underscores his connection to his familial roots and recognition of regional autonomy.
Later that day, Valadao expressed concerns regarding immigration enforcement practices in California. He tweeted, “I remain concerned about ongoing ICE operations throughout CA and will continue my conversations with the administration—urging them to prioritize the removal of known criminals over the hardworking people who have lived peacefully in the Valley for years.” This indicates his advocacy for prioritizing immigration enforcement efforts towards individuals with criminal backgrounds rather than those integrated into local communities.
David Valadao was born in Hanford, California in 1977 and has been serving in Congress since replacing TJ Cox in 2021. He previously served in the California State Assembly from 2010 to 2012.
