Kern County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jeremy Johnston and Earl Fordyce on Jan. 22 at around 5.30 p.m. on the 2400 block of Ashby Street. KCSO deputies say Johnston was in possession of a 9mm handgun which had been reported stolen. Johnston has an active felony warrant for assault with a weapon.

Deputies said they found narcotics in Johnston's backpack which included methamphetamine, heroin,  cocaine and oxycodone pills. Deputies say about 300 rounds of ammunition with extended magazines, explosives and over $1,300 in cash were located at his residence after a thorough search.

Fordyce, the other suspect, was caught after fleeing the police. Deputies say he was found in possession of a 40 caliber handgun, large amounts of narcotics and a digital scale. The gun was reported stolen from someone in Odessa, Texas. Fordyce is not a first-time offender, he also has a pending case of sales of narcotics.

Both Johnston and Fordyce were charged with resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance for sale while armed, possession of a firearm and ammunition, among other charges.
