Shooting at an Occupied Vehicle

On May 24, 2022, at 5:59 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the 700 block of Adams Street, in Wasco, for a report of shots heard. Upon arrival, deputies contacted witnesses who advised two subjects fled on foot after shooting at an occupied vehicle. Deputies were unable to locate a victim of a shooting. After searching the area, deputies located a 16-year-old male hiding in a back yard. He was detained and identified as one of the suspects but not the shooter. The second suspect was not located. The identity of the victim is unknown. The juvenile was in possession of a concealed knife. He was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon and booked into juvenile hall. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing. On May 24, 2022, at 6:47 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the 600 block of Rembrandt Street, for a domestic disturbance call. The suspect barricaded himself in the residence. Deputies surrounded the residence and made several public announcements. The suspect’s refusal to exit prompted a SWAT callout. The suspect eventually surrendered to SWAT personnel a short time later. He was taken into custody without incident. The suspect was booked into Central Receiving Facility for spousal abuse, criminal threats, and felony child endangerment.

On May 24, 2022, at 10:58 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the Country Store located on Fairfax Road for two victims of a shooting.  When deputies arrived, they found two adult males (ages 41 and 35) suffering from gunshot wounds.  An unknown suspect inside of a passing vehicle shot both victims with a shotgun and fled.  The victims drove to the Country Store and law enforcement was called.  Both victims were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  Anyone with additional information regarding this investigation is requested to contact the Kern County Sheriff’s Office at (661) 861-3110 or Secret Witness at (661) 322-4040.
