33-Year-Old Male Adult Suffering from Gunshot Wounds

On June 7, 2022, at 7:50 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the area of E Street and 6th Street in Wasco for a victim of a shooting.  When deputies arrived, they found a 33-year-old male adult suffering from gunshot wounds.  The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  During the shooting two vehicles and an apartment complex located on the 500 block of E Street were also struck by gunfire.  Deputies did not locate additional shooting victims.  

While conducting the shooting investigation, a separate call for service was received from the 500 block of D Street in Wasco, reporting a juvenile was missing. The investigation revealed the missing juvenile's father was involved in the shooting.  After the shooting occurred the juvenile’s father, age 27, returned to his residence and drove his child to a nearby park where the child was left unattended.  The child’s father returned to his residence and claimed his child was missing.  Deputies located live 9mm caliber ammunition in front of the residence on D Street and in the juvenile’s father vehicle.  The juvenile’s father was arrested.  The investigation is ongoing.

On June 7, 2022, at 10:21 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the 16000 block of Strebor Drive in Bakersfield for shots heard.  When deputies arrived, they found a 45-year-old male adult was involved in a verbal argument with his father, an 80-year-old male adult.  During the argument the son shot and killed his father’s dog.  The son buried the dog in the backyard along with the gun used to kill the dog.  The dead dog and the gun were located.  The son was arrested without further incident.
