Brothers Grocery

On July 6, 2022, at approximately 1:45 p.m., deputies from Kern County Sheriff’s Office metro patrol were dispatched to investigate a robbery that had just occurred at a convenience store named Brothers Grocery located on the 300 block of Taft Hwy. The clerk reported the suspect pointed a gun at him and demanded he give him the money in the register. The clerk provided the suspect with cash and the suspect fled to a nearby house. 

The victim witnessed the suspect enter the house on the 400 block of Taft Hwy. Deputies began watching the house and soon after, the suspect left in a vehicle. During a traffic stop of the vehicle the suspect in the robbery was identified as JEFREY HELM. HELM and an additional suspect who aided in the robbery, ANGELICA CROTWELL, were arrested and booked into the Central Receiving Facility for the robbery and weapons charges. Cash was recovered from the suspects and during a search of the house HELM had gone inside, deputies located the handgun that was used in the robbery.
