Today it has been one year since we, as a community, tragically lost a hero, Deputy Phillip Campas. We would like to thank the community for the outpouring of support that we have received. This was a devastating loss for the Kern County Sheriff’s Office and we’ve felt from our community that it was a devastating loss for you all as well. We would like to sincerely thank the community for all of the support. We are grateful that you stand behind Deputy Campas and his family and we are grateful that you stand behind KCSO.
We would like to share this letter with you:
A year ago today, July 25th 2021, my husband Phillip was killed in the line of duty.
That day I lost my best friend and my children lost their father. The last year has brought the kids and I many challenges but our support system has never faltered. We owe everything to them.
I also want to thank KCSO, community leaders and the amazing people of Kern County for the support we’ve received everyday since. I don’t think I will ever have the words to express how grateful we are to you all. Every card, message, gift and donation the last year did not go unnoticed and we are forever grateful. I wish I could hug every one of you. It is because of this community along with friends and family that Phillip’s legacy will live on.
Phillip left such a mark on everyone he knew and we are so proud.
We love and miss him so much but know his name will never be forgotten.
From the bottom of my hearts, thank you.
Christina Campas
