From October 11, 2022, to October 13, 2022, Kern County HIDTA and Los Angeles HIDTA conducted a multiagency Domestic Highway Enforcement (DHE) operation along Interstate 5 and Highway 99 in Kern County. The purpose of this collaborative effort by the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Orange County Sheriff’s Department, and the Department of Fish and Wildlife, (Cannabis Enforcement Program) was to maximize available resources and reduce the supply of illegal drugs through enforcement of Federal and State laws and increase the quality of life in the region.
On October 12, 2022, at approximately 12: 20 p.m., an enforcement stop was conducted on a passenger vehicle traveling on northbound Interstate 5 near Laval Road. During the investigation, Riverside County Sheriff’s Deputy’s K9 partner alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a large quantity of counterfeit (M-30) fentanyl laced pills, kilograms of powder fentanyl, and pound quantities of Xanax and Ecstasy pills.
A narcotics callout was requested and members of the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, KC-HIDTA Task Force responded and assumed the investigation. Further search of the vehicle and suspected narcotics packaging revealed the presence of approximately 113 lbs. of counterfeit (M-30) fentanyl laced pills, which is (Approximately 428,348 pills), 8 kilograms of powder fentanyl, 2 ½ lbs. of Xanax pills, and 1 lb. of Ecstasy pills.
During the investigation, Timoteo Evora-Vigil, age 22, from Bell, California, and Marvin Sanchez, age 25 from El Monte, California were arrested for numerous narcotics related charges, and conspiracy and booked into the Kern County Sheriff’s Office jail. Evora-Vigil and Sanchez are pending future court proceedings.
