In 2022, 18 % of the dogs we took in were identified as Shepherds or Shepherd mixes, and 5 % were identified as Huskies or Husky mixes. These are smart, highly trainable, athletic, loyal and energetic dogs that don't always show well in a shelter environment.
Our Streets of Bakersfield program gives these dogs a break from their kennel and the noisy shelter. When you return them, their Report Card you fill out gives us valuable information about them we can't get at the shelter.
