WASHINGTON – On May 25, Congressman David G. Valadao (CA-22) voted for H.R. 467, the Halt All Lethal Trafficking (HALT) of Fentanyl Act. The legislation, which passed the House of Representatives with overwhelming bipartisan support, would permanently place fentanyl-related substances (FRS) into Schedule 1 of the Controlled Substances Act – the strictest level of control currently in place by the Drug Enforcement Administration.

“The devastation caused by fentanyl has been heartbreaking,” said Congressman Valadao. “Fentanyl has continued to plague communities across the nation, especially here in California’s Central Valley. It is critical that we combat this epidemic with every tool we have so we can stop those trafficking this deadly drug. I was proud to vote for the HALT Fentanyl Act today to enable law enforcement to combat this crisis and save lives.”

Last year, Congressman Valadao joined a letter to President Biden urging him to schedule fentanyl as a Schedule 1 drug.
