WASHINGTON – Congressman David G. Valadao (CA-22) spoke in support of report language he worked to secure in the Fiscal Year 2024 (FY24) Agriculture, Rural Development, and FDA Appropriations Bill. The language recognizes the effects of the recent historic storms in California, expresses concern for the impact of flooding on the nation’s most productive farmland, and directs the Secretary of Agriculture to expeditiously exercise all disaster response and assistance authorities provided under the law.
“I am grateful that the Committee has directed the Secretary to utilize all available disaster response and assistance measures in a fast and effective manner. This will ensure that our agricultural producers in California, who have been affected by the recent flooding, receive the support they desperately need. The directive also emphasizes the need for further assistance in the event of flooding that may follow the melting of our record snowpack in the Sierras,” said Congressman Valadao.
