On June 21, Congressman Kevin McCarthy, Representative of California’s 20th Congressional District and Speaker of the House, appointed California State Assemblyman Vince Fong and former Congressman Rodney Davis to the Commission to Study the Potential Creation of a National Museum of Asian Pacific History and Culture.
Speaker McCarthy released the following statement:
“I have known and worked with Vince Fong for over 15 years and have always been impressed by his leadership skills, affability, and work ethic. After being elected to Congress, I hired Vince, who worked his way up to becoming my first district director, and it has been a privilege to watch him serve our community now as a member of the California State Assembly. Being the first Asian American to represent our region in the State Legislature, he has been an effective leader for the Central Valley. As he takes on this additional role, I know he will bring our Central Valley values of hard work and determination to help this commission succeed.”
“Having served alongside Rodney Davis for years, I know the caliber of leadership that he brings to the table. Through his time as Ranking Member of the Committee on House Administration which oversees the Smithsonian Institution and its museums, Rodney brings a unique expertise and experience – including traveling across the country to help develop the idea of this museum – that will prove to be invaluable to the mission of this commission.”
