This week in Kern County history.

Bill Bagnall died on November 22, 2006

Bill Bagnall, born on March 27, 1926, died on November 22, 2006. Known for his role as the publisher and editor of Motorcyclist magazine for two decades, Bagnall served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Following the war, he transitioned to become a photographer for Motorcyclist, eventually becoming its editor. He led the magazine until 1972 when he sold it to Petersen Publishing before retiring in the early 1970s. Bagnall also served as the president of the American Motorcyclist Association for three years and was inducted into the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 1999. In addition to his contributions to the motorcycling community, he organized a popular photographic equipment swap meet in the Los Angeles area from 1983 to 2011.
