Today, Congressman David Valadao (CA-22) expressed his support following the House’s approval of the Fiscal Year 2026 Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Bill. This legislation aims to modernize military infrastructure, enhance readiness, and improve the quality of life for servicemembers and their families. It also emphasizes resources for veterans’ healthcare, pension benefits, and housing.
Congressman Valadao stated, “I’m proud to support this bill that delivers on our promise to America’s veterans and strengthens support for our military families.” He highlighted that the bill fully funds veterans’ health care, the VA, and key benefits while investing in a new program to address veteran homelessness. Additionally, he noted the inclusion of Central Valley priorities such as language related to the Bakersfield VA clinic and funding for an F-35 Aircraft Maintenance Hangar at NAS Lemoore.
The bill outlines several key areas: full funding for veterans’ health care programs; full funding for veterans’ benefits and VA programs; investment in combating veteran homelessness through a new Bridging Rental Assistance for Veteran Empowerment program; maintaining funding levels for research and mental health programs; robust funding for military construction projects including NAS Lemoore; and investment in the American Battle Monuments Commission.
The FY26 appropriations act includes a discretionary allocation of $152.091 billion—an increase of nearly $5 billion from FY25—and provides $300 billion for mandatory programs, totaling $453 billion in overall funding.
