Vince Fong, a U.S. Representative from California’s 20th congressional district, shared a series of posts on his official Twitter account between May 7 and May 8, 2026. His tweets addressed themes ranging from national prayer observances to state education policy and recent economic data.
On May 7, Fong marked the National Day of Prayer by encouraging collective reflection and prayer. He stated: “Today, on the National Day of Prayer, we reflect on the power of faith, service, and prayer. Please join me in praying for our nation, our troops, our first responders, our families, and all those working to keep our communities safe and strong. May God bless America.”
The following day, Fong turned his attention to educational policy in California. In a tweet dated May 8, he criticized California Governor Gavin Newsom for not participating in the Education Freedom Tax Credit program. Fong wrote: “30 states have now opted in to expand educational opportunity through the Education Freedom Tax Credit. But not CA. Not @CAgovernor. I called on Newsom to opt in back in January, but he’s remained silent. Meanwhile, funding for CA students and CA families flows to other”. The Education Freedom Tax Credit is part of a broader movement among several U.S. states to provide tax incentives supporting school choice initiatives.
Later that same day, Fong commented on new job growth figures released for April 2026. He praised President Biden’s administration for recent economic gains: “Fantastic news for our economy. Under the leadership of @POTUS, the American people and the American worker comes first. We added 115k jobs in April, including 123k private sector jobs, more than double expectations and the 2nd straight month of blockbuster gains!” The Bureau of Labor Statistics regularly publishes monthly employment reports which serve as key indicators of U.S. economic health.
Fong has been an active voice in Congress since his election in 2024 following former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s resignation from office.
