Vince Fong, U.S. Representative for California’s 20th congressional district, has recently posted a series of messages on social media addressing national security, family appreciation, and law enforcement recognition.
On May 9, Fong emphasized the significance of cybersecurity and workforce readiness by stating, “From adversarial nations to rogue cyber criminals, the threats we face are real. It’s why the mission of DHS and @CISAgov is so critical. It’s also why we must have a prepared workforce to lead the way. I introduced the NSF AI Education Act to ensure we have strong workforce”.
On May 10, Fong marked Mother’s Day with a message directed at families in his district and beyond: “Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms across the Central Valley and beyond! I’m especially grateful for my mom and her love & guidance, and for my wife, who is an incredible mother and the heart of our family. Thank you to all the moms who do so much for their families every day!”
The following day, during National Police Week on May 11, Fong recognized law enforcement officers by posting: “During National Police Week, we say thank you to the brave men and women who run towards danger to protect others. We honor the service and sacrifice of those who wear the badge and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. #NationalPoliceWeek”
Fong represents a region in California’s Central Valley that faces ongoing challenges related to public safety and workforce development. The NSF AI Education Act mentioned in his post aims to strengthen education in artificial intelligence fields through support from agencies such as the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), both responsible for safeguarding critical infrastructure from cyber threats.
