Vince Fong, U.S. Representative for California’s 20th congressional district, shared a series of posts on social media in early August 2025 highlighting his recent activities and commemorations.
On August 6, 2025, Fong visited the Department of Homeland Security office in Fresno. He wrote, “Visited with the hard working team at the @DHSgov office including their lab in Fresno. Grateful to the dedicated staff who are on the front lines of innovation to keep our nation safe. Thank you for your service and for everything you do to protect our country!”
The following day, August 7, Fong marked Purple Heart Day by honoring military personnel who have been wounded or killed while serving. He posted, “Freedom comes at a cost. Today, on Purple Heart Day, we honor the brave men and women who were wounded or gave their lives in defense of our nation. Your courage, sacrifice, and service will never be forgotten “
Later that same day, Fong reflected on awarding a posthumous Purple Heart to the family of Private First Class Andreas Andrew Cagoulides. In his words: “Also today, I’m especially humbled as I reflect on the posthumous Purple Heart I had the honor of awarding to the family of Private First Class Andreas Andrew Cagoulides — a powerful reminder of the deep and lasting sacrifices made by our heroes and their loved ones. Purple Heart Day is observed annually in the United States on August 7 to recognize those wounded or killed while serving with the U.S. military.
