Born on August 18, 1953: David Bryan Benoit, jazz pianist

Born in Bakersfield on August 18, 1953, David Bryan Benoit is a jazz pianist, composer, and producer. Charting over 25 albums, he earned three Grammy nominations. Benoit, music director for the Pacific Vision Youth Symphony, contributed to Peanuts adaptations, restoring Vince Guaraldi's musical signature. Trained at Mira Costa High School and UCLA, he began as a musical director in 1976. His debut album, "Freedom at Midnight" (1987), reached number 5 on Billboard. Notable works include "Waiting for Spring" (1989) and contributions to Peanuts specials. Benoit, performing at the White House for three U.S. Presidents, received Grammy nominations and acclaim for his impactful contributions to contemporary jazz.
